On July 25th at approximately 1549 hours, Stafford EMS responded in the area of Route 72 West and East Bay Ave. for a reported motor vehicle crash involving injuries. With 380 as the first arriving of our units, he quickly established command and began to determine and triage those involved and their injuries. It was determined that there were 4 total patients, 1 adult male and 1 female pediatric which met ALS criteria. Two ALS units responded to assist BLS with the injuries and to further evaluate the determination for trauma. Continuing, command has requested assistance from the Beach Haven First Aid Squad to attempt to tend to the others that were involved.
Command continued to request 2 MEDEVACS to fly both ALS patients to a nearby trauma center. Both BLS and ALS transported the patients to Southern Regional HIgh School where the Stafford Township Fire Company has assisted with the landing of both Lifelight and Hackensack 2 MEDEVACS. Care was transferred to both flight teams and both patients involved were air lifted to Jersey Shore Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.
Stafford EMS would like to commend the Stafford Township Police Department, Stafford Township Fire Company, Ocean County Sheriffs Office, Beach Haven First Aid Squad, Hackensak Meridian Paramedics and both MEDEVACS for a job well done exemplifying excellent teamwork during this incident.
